This is an update to the previous N73 firmware posts.N73s with firmware version v2.0628.0.0.1 may experience Bluetooth connection problems. When this happens ViewRanger's GPS circle and cross will go grey, and the Hdop will be reported as 100.Dial *#0000# to see your firmware version.
Nokia released new firmware v2.0628.0.0.3 in September, which fixes this problem. In November v3.0638.0.0.1 dated 30-10-06 was released, which contains other fixes and improvements.
You can update online using the Nokia software updater from
http://europe.nokia.com/A4176089?N73 . This is usually the easiest way to update, follow the instructions carefully.
You can also take your phone to a Nokia service centre. You can find your nearest service centre using this page
http://www.apps.nokia.co.uk/clubnokiaservice/ , but do ring to check they can upgrade your phone before travelling.
However, some of the network operators use a branded version of the firmware for which there is no update available yet. Forums at sites like
discussions.nokia.co.uk and
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/ contain lots of discussions about this issue if you want to know more.
The firmware variant on your phone is determined by the product code. This is a number located under the battery starting 05. There are literally dozens of variants.
If you have a product code of 0527009, 0539101, 0539102, 0539093 or 0539094 then you can update using the Nokia software updater now. If you have a different product code then you may or may not be able to update, you need to try the Nokia software updater to find out. Make sure you download and install the latest Nokia software updater.
