N80 firmware

posted by Mike Brocklehurst on Friday, August 25, 2006

N80s with firmware version 3.0617.0.6 may experience occasional Bluetooth connection losses. New firmware, v4.0623.0.41, was released in the middle of August 2006 which appears to fix this problem. The new firmware can be obtained from Nokia service centres. You can find your nearest service centre using this page www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,77483,00.html, but do check before going there because some service centres are not equipped to upgrade this type of handset.

*** Update - you can now update your handset yourself from the Nokia web site - go to http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,95599,00.html?N80

Dial *#0000# to see your firmware version.

Firmware version 3.0614.0.3 was not affected by this problem, and not all handets with 3.0617.0.6 show the problem (the type of GPS may be a factor), so if you are not experiencing the problem you can ignore this advice.

The forums at sites like www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum and discussions.nokia.co.uk
contain lots of discussions about this firmware if you want to know more.
